2026 Golden Globes live updates: Red carpet arrivals will kick off the night; Nikki Glaser set to host

Hollywood's award season is in full swing — and the stars are gearing up for this evening’s 83rd Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills.

This evening's awards show will be hosted by Emmy-nominated comedian and actress Nikki Glaser for a second year in a row, celebrating the best of film, television and, for the first time, podcasting.

The list of 2026 nominees was revealed back in December. Leading the pack with the most nominations is Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, with nine nominations across the comedy/musical film categories, including best picture, best director and Leonardo DiCaprio’s nod for best actor. Meanwhile, Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value secured eight nominations on the film drama side.

Across the various television categories, HBO’s The White Lotus has the most nominations, with six. Adolescence, which dominated the limited series categories at the Emmys in September, is up for five Golden Globes. Only Murders in the Building and Severance have four nominations apiece.

Watch the Golden Globes live on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS. Catch the livestream on Yahoo and up-to-the-minute updates in our live blog below.

      Feeding Hollywood, Nobu-style

Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is overseeing the Golden Globes menu — and the scale is no joke. Roughly 1,200 plates will be served throughout the evening, including his signature black cod and yellowtail jalapeño sashimi.

“Last year, everyone loved it,” Matsuhisa says. “But this year, I did a little bit of a switch.”

As for being starstruck? “Most of the people I already know — everyone. So I’m very comfortable.”

'KPop Demon Hunters' has already made Golden Globes history

When KPop Demon Hunters was released on Netflix in June 2025, it was a breakout success. The animated film, which follows Huntrix, a K-pop girl group that fights to protect their fans from a rival demon boy band, quickly became the streamer’s most-watched original title ever. At this year’s Golden Globes, KPop Demon Hunters is nominated for Best Animated Film, Best Original Song, and Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.

Whether the film wins in its respective categories remains to be seen, but it has already made history: Singer Ejae, who cowrote and coperformed the nominated track, “Golden,” became the first Korean American artist to ever be nominated for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes.

Longtime couple Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are both nominated tonight

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time that Keri Russell and her partner, actor Matthew Rhys, have simultaneously been nominated for their leading performances. The Hollywood couple received individual Best Actor and Best Actress nods at the 2017 and 2019 Golden Globes for their work on FX’s The Americans.

At tonight’s Golden Globes, Russell is up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series, Drama, for The Diplomat, while Rhys is in the running for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television for The Beast in Me. While both shows are produced by Netflix, their roles couldn’t be more different: Russell plays a disheveled American ambassador in London with a crumbling marriage, while Rhys portrays a real estate scion accused of murdering his ex-wife.

Russell and Rhys began dating in 2014 after meeting on set for The Americans. The Felicity actress has two children with her ex-husband, Shane Deary, and a son, born in 2016, with Rhys.

Could this be Timothée Chalamet’s year?

Marty Supreme premiered in theaters on Christmas Day to rave reviews — and it seems the awards season buzz surrounding the film’s star, Timothée Chalamet, is merely intensifying. During last week’s Critics Choice Awards, Chalamet took home one of the night’s biggest honors, Best Actor, for his portrayal of Marty Mauser, an American table-tennis player inspired by real-life legend Marty Reisman.

Just last month, Chalamet addressed the controversy surrounding his divisive behavior during the press tour for Marty Supreme. His response was simple: It’s what Marty would’ve done.

“This is in the spirit of Marty, and I feel like this is ultimately an original film at a time when original movies aren’t really put out,” he told Indie Wire. “It’s a movie about the pursuit of a dream. I’m leaving it on the field. Whether it’s the merch or the Zoom or the media appearances, I’m trying to get this out in the biggest way possible. In the spirit of Marty Mauser.”

Chalamet, who’s been in a relationship with Kylie Jenner for the past three years, is no stranger to being an awards season frontrunner. Last year, he nabbed a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama, for his turn as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown.

1990 fashion flashback: Julia Roberts makes a statement in menswear

The year was 1990, and a young Julia Roberts established herself as the ultimate cool girl when she attended the Golden Globes in a gray men's suit by Giorgio Armani. America’s sweetheart, as host Nikki Glaser refers to her, won big that night too: She took home her first-ever Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for Steel Magnolias.

“I did my hair, my girlfriend did my makeup … I don’t even know that people wore really fancy gowns to the Golden Globes then the way they do now, but I thought that I was very extra in this outfit,” Roberts told Vogue of the look. “I could not have known that it was going to become this, like, statement outfit. I just thought I looked fabulous, and I still have that suit.”

2007 fashion flashback: Beyoncé glistens in gold

Even before her days as Queen Bey, Beyoncé already knew how to serve some serious red carpet style. The Cowboy Carter superstar attended the 2007 Golden Globes in a shimmering gold Elie Saab gown, which featured a plunging halter neckline and low-back detail, as well as a subtle keyhole cutout along the midriff. The Dreamgirls star finished off her look with quintessentially ’00s touches: a smoky eye, glossy lips, dangling earrings and a chunky bangle.

1999 fashion flashback: Angelina Jolie cements her fashion 'it' girl status

When it comes to iconic red carpet moments, Angelina Jolie’s sparkly display at the 1999 Golden Globes immediately comes to mind. That evening, Jolie, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film for her performance in Gia, opted for a fully beaded silver gown by Randolph Duke. Simple yet sophisticated, the frock featured a subtly halter neckline and figure-hugging silhouette.

2025 fashion flashback: Zendaya stuns in tangerine

Just last year, Zendaya made a showstopping entrance when she stepped onto the Golden Globes red carpet in a strapless tangerine silk gown. She was every bit glamorous in the Louis Vuitton confection, custom-made by Nicolas Ghesquière, which featured a sweetheart neckline, a structured bodice and a classic ballgown silhouette. As for her accessories? The Challengers star was dripping in Bulgari diamonds.

While preparing for this year’s show, host Nikki Glaser learned that 'America’s sweetheart' is untouchable

Nikki Glaser is ready for round two. Glaser, who received critical acclaim for her inaugural hosting performance at last year’s Globes, has been testing out some of her new material at comedy clubs in Los Angeles. It wasn’t long before she learned that one celebrity is simply untouchable when it comes to audiences: Julia Roberts.

“No one wants you to make fun of America’s sweetheart. Not even the lightest, most innocent joke,” Glaser said of the veteran actress, who is nominated at this year’s awards show for After the Hunt. “She is the most sacred of cows in America. I assumed that we want to protect her at all costs, but it’s as if I was joking about JonBenét [Ramsey]. [Audiences] were like, ‘This is not funny. We’re not going to laugh about it.’”
